Every time we test a product from Spetton, we are impressed by the quality. This surely applies to the neoprene equipment and accessories. Now it is the time for the carbon fiber fins. Considering that the main producers in the world are C4 Carbon, Cetma, Leaderfins, and Molchanovs, but also Alchemy and XT Diving Pro, normally you would expect the “others” to be one step below. This is not the case of the Spetton Zeus fins, that we have tested in the sea and which have shown excellence in all conditions, as real allrounder fins for spearfishing.

Extremely light blade
We have already presented and analyzed Spetton Blades fins. The first impression was that overall they were extremely light. Such sensation has been totally confirmed by the test at sea. Be it in surface transfers, shallow, medium or deep dives, the sensation on the legs is never heavy and there is always reduced fatigues to the muscles. This, especially when spearfishing for hours, is an incredible advantage. Additionally, every duck dive is easier and more fluid with a low weight of the fins.

Surface transfers
Carlo Forni: “As anticipated, and this in not always true, the Spetton Zeus fins are able to be light on the legs and perform in all conditions. In surface transfers, that I personally use a lot in my kind of spearfishing day, starting from the boat and then moving long distances before going back, I have felt no fatigue, no stress, great thrust both in calm and wavy conditions. Even with strong current, the fatigue is low, of course with some limit to the push I had when going against the current.”

Deep dives
“I have tested the Spetton Zeus fins deep down to -25 meters in constant weight and at no time was I lacking thrust when coming back up to the surface. With a 5 mm smooth skin wetsuit and 7 kg on the belt, the Spetton Zeus fins were always able to give me the perfect push.”

Foot pockets
“The foot pockets, a version of the C4 400, are definitely light and work fine, but are probably the part of the Spetton Zeus fins I liked the least. First, the connection between the blade and the foot pocket, obtained laterally on the side rail with some sort of “hooks” is a little bit complicated to fit. This, considering that today most foot pockets do not even have side rails and the mounting and dismounting of the blade takes a few seconds. Also, the foot pocket tested wraps nicely the foot, but not perfectly, at least my thin one. So, a good solution, but not at the level of the blades.“
Conclusions
“If you are looking for carbon fiber blade fins that in any conditions feel light on the legs and give a high thrust, the Spetton Zeus are for you. Be it surface transfers, medium to deep dives, these fins are a great choice. Check well the adaptation of your feet to the Spetton foot pockets.”
