Salvimar Wild family

Wild and Wild Pro

The two models have a lot in common, such as the grip and the barrel. Still, they differ in the head and the elastic bands. Both the Salvimar Wild and the Wild Pro have a list price just that starts below 60 €.

Technical characteristics

Muzzle & bands

The Salvimar Wild is complete with a closed muzzle and single circular S400 Made in Italy 14 mm diameter band. The elastic coefficient is 3.3.

The Wild Pro is offered complete of a muzzle with removable bridge. It also includes a standard pair of slings of the same type (3.3 coefficient) and diameter (16 mm). The muzzle of the latter is also designed to host one or two additional circular rubber bands for an upgrade.

Both muzzles are made of 30% glass loaded nylon. There is passage for the line in the inferior part of the muzzle. It is made of a steel element for best wear resistance. The wishbone is the same for both the Wild and Wild Pro, with a shaped reinforced steel arch solution.

Barrel

The barrel is made with a 28 mm external diameter aeronautical anodized aluminium tube. Thickness of the walls of the tube of the barrel is equal to 1.3 mm.

Release mechanism

The release mechanism is made in 304 stainless steel, while the castle and the trigger are in Grivory. The line release lever is also in 304 stainless steel and it is laser cut. It is in the modern and most efficient lateral position. Such lever can be easily moved from the right to the left side of the handle extracting a pin.

The security system is positioned in such a way that the right-handers can perfectly feel the “button” when the lock is on. This works also for left-handers, but is a little less effective. In fact, they will feel nothing and from that will need to understand the lock is on. When the lock will be off, they will feel in the palm at the base of the index finger the “button”.

Handle

The handle has an anatomical symmetrical left and right-hander design and is made of 30% glass loaded nylon. It has a special Salvimar acid green color element on the back side where the palm of the hand adheres. There are no “wings” that permits to best position the line away from the line of aim.

The handle is designed to mount any Salvimar Reel (read the X-Rays of the Max Reel). In the inferior part of the hand-grip there is a well designed and integrated passage. It is maybe a little bit narrow for large diameter lines. It is one piece with the grip, for positioning a line. No gun butt is present.

Shaft

The shaft is a 6.5 mm diameter made of black galvanized stainless steel Tahitian with single barb and two notches for the Wild Pro. On the Wild you have the same shaft but with 4 points prongs.

In brief

Even though these two products do not have the top of the line 100% stainless steel release mechanism, the handle has a great designAll Salvimar muzzles, even the Roller, can be mounted on both the Wild and Wild Pro. The standard muzzle (of high quality) on the Wild Pro gives the possibility to upgrade to one or two (even three if of reduced diameter) elastic bands. The wishbone and a number of steel components make, on paper, the Wild and Wild Pro a high level solution for such segment of the market. The absence of any butt on the other hand brings the two sling guns back to the value for money segment.

Salvimar Wild Carbo line

An great offer is the new Wild Carbo, completed by the new versions, Wild Carbo Stone e Wild Carbo Open. In addition, there is the Wild Carbo Roller version. The latter was already on the market before 2022. Once again, Salvimar astonishes with its aggressiveness on the market. In fact, the Italian company introduces a carbon fiber barrel speargun at less than 100 € (Carbo is at 98.49 €).

Technical characteristics

Muzzle e bands

The Salvimar Wild Carbo and the Wild Carbo Stone sling guns have a muzzle with removable bridge. They are offered with an S400 Made in Italy 16 mm diameter pair of standard sling bands. These have an elastic coefficient of 3.3. The wishbone is a shaped reinforced steel arch solution.

The Salvimar Wild Carbo Open has an open muzzle. It is setup with one S400 16 mm circular elastic band with Dyneema wishbone.

All the muzzles are made of 30% glass loaded nylon. They are all designed to host one or two 16 mm diameter or up to 3 14.5 mm diameter circular elastic bands for an upgrade.

The Salvimar Wild Carbo Roller, today at 160 €, is fitted with the Salvimar Roller muzzle.

This product is special, as it puts together the carbon fiber barrel with the excellent Salvimar Roller muzzle. The latter has also a very useful design that helps to insert the shaft without having to lift the wishbone. The Salvimar Wild Carbo Roller, just as the other Wild Carbo solutions, also includes the trigger adjustment system. It is indeed, for its price, a very high level product.

The passage for the line in the inferior part of the muzzle is made of a steel element. This solution is best against wear.

Barrel

The barrel for all the Wild Carbo line is a 100% carbon fiber solution. Specifically, it is a TW-KO3 fiber circular section 28 mm external diameter tube. The thickness of the tube walls is 1.3 mm.

Release mechanism

The release mechanism is made in 304 stainless steel while the castle and the trigger are in Grivory. The line release lever is also in 304 stainless steel and it is laser cut. It is in the modern and most efficient lateral position. Such lever can be easily moved from the right to the left side of the handle extracting a pin. In addition the trigger can be regulated with a screw positioned under the hilt.

The security system is positioned in such a way that the right-handers can perfectly feel the “button”. This signals the lock is on. The solution can work also for left-handers, but is a little less effective. In fact, they will feel nothing and from that will need to understand the lock is on. When the lock will be off they will feel in the palm at the base of the index finder the “button”.

The handle has an anatomical left and right-hander design and is made of 30% glass loaded nylon. It has a special Salvimar acid green colour element on the back side where the palm of the hand adheres. There are no “wings” that permits to best position the line away from the line of aim. The handle is designed to mount any Salvimar Reel. In the inferior part of the handgrip there is a well designed and integrated passage. It is one piece with the grip and is made for positioning a line. Maybe it is a little bit narrow for large diameter lines. In the rear part the handle a well shaped and good dimensions dismountable butt is present.

Shaft

The Wild Carbo and the Wild Carbo Stone have a 6.5 mm diameter shaft made of 17-4 ph stainless steel. It is a Tahitian with single barb and two notches on the Carbo. While it has 4 points prong for the Carbo Stone.

In brief

The Wild Carbo line hits the market hard, with its 100% carbon fiber barrel. The list price starts from just below 100 € for the Wild Carbo. Surely the buoyancy and the stiffness of such barrel are top level. Great stiffness is useful for longer lengths (from 75 cm on) and quite “wasted” for shorter versions. Also, the muzzle, the handle and the wishbone are all of extremely high level.

The upgrading possibilities for the Wild Carbo, the Wild Carbo Stone and the Wild Carbo Open are many. This is thanks to the possibility of adding more circular bands of various diameters. This permits to consequently change shaft diameter, add a reel and so on. All this is supported by a stiff and light carbon fiber solution. The barrel will so help buoyancy if one wants to use higher diameter shafts, and support high loads.

The Wild Carbo Roller has all these characteristics. It also brings the roller system with carbon fiber barrel to a very affordable segment.
