C4 Carbon launches the revolutionary 100% Antifog System for its Condor and Falcon masks. The first mask is an amazing choice for Spearfishing (Best Choice 2024), with its record breaking field of view for a two lenses solutuon, and tested with great results by spearfishing Champion Daniel Gospic. The Condor has won the Best Choice 2024 for the great quality and comfort, and the outstanding reduced internal volume.

100% antifog frameless masks
Both frameless, the C4 Condor and C4 Falcon have to be cleaned well to avoid the lenses to fog up. This is typical of all masks when they are new, and in particular of the frameless ones. Such aspect is due to the fact that the silicone skirt and the lenses are bonded together at high temperature, with the silicone particles depositing on and partially inside the expanded glass. C4 Carbon, with the 100% Antifog System, has completely solved the issue.

Antifog film
The C4 100% Antifog System is actually simple and clever at the same time. It utilizes a film which is quite similar to the protective films used for smartphones, but of course adapted to the needs of the mask. On each lens the film is applied internally, separating the glass surface from the external air, and so also any silicone particle is covered. In such a way, the issue of the fogging is totally solved.

To do and not to do
We have been testing as Apnea Passion the new mask at the same time as the 30 C4 Carbon ambassadors, including Umberto Pelizzari. This gives us today the opportunity to be already in condition to confirm a 100% successful result. You take the mask out of the box, rip off the external stickers indicating 100% Antifog and the obligatory Warning one, and have to do nothing more. Just go in the water and enjoy the experience of zero fogging of the lenses without any cleaning.

By our test, which we will publish in its full version in the coming days, we have learned a few things. First of all, you don’t need and should never use any cleaner, soap, toothpaste or, even worse, a lighter, to clean the lenses. It is not needed and would damage the internal protective antifog film.

Do though take care of not putting your fingers on the film, as it can still accumulate grease coming from the skin, and this would partially reduce its antifog effect. Also, do wash the mask with fresh water at the end of each dive, to avoid any dirt which would also partially compromise the antifog system. In the end, nothing critical, as the simple process of spitting on the internal part of the lenses and rub the saliva would be sufficient to clean properly the surface and regain the 100% antifog effect.
Not the first, but apparently the most durable
C4 Carbon is not the first company to launch a mask with an antifog film, but indeed the quality of this solution appears of very high level. Other solutions on the market last only a few months in case of intense use. Differently, in the three months test we have brought forward, the film of our C4 Carbon mask has worked perfectly and had zero visible deterioration. We have even avoided to wash the mask in fresh water, on purpose to make the test even tougher. Apart from the need of spitting in the mask to clean the film if some deposits have remained in the surface, the antifog system has worked perfectly for the entire period and around 25 spearfishing sessions of average 2.5 hours duration.
Condor and Falcon 100% Antifog

The C4 Condor and C4 Falcon masks will be both available with the 100% Antifog system. In particular, the Condor will be available Black, Carbon, Snake, Silver Black and Silver White, while the Falcon will be offered in the Black version. The C4 100% Antifog masks will be available to buy at the end of March 2025.
Durability test
We will proceed with our durability test in the coming weeks to give a true indication of how long such Antifog film can last, and if it has actually a limited life. C4 Carbon will indicate in the coming weeks dedicated solutions in case the film is damaged for any reason, such as wrong utilization or its natural end of life.
