The C4 Ghost fins with transparent polymer blades are not the first ever on the market, as the Omer Ice fins were a good first try. Unfortunately, they broke on many occasions and this limited a lot their success, even though there were also very happy customers who did not have the same issue. Anyway, this time, with the C4 Ghost fins, C4 Carbon underlines that they can offer great performance and amazing durability. We will check both, including a durability test of a few months. In the meantime, let’s see how these very interesting fins are made. After all, the best possible camouflage, to be invisible, is to be transparent!
It’s all in the material of the blade
C4 Ghost fins are crafted from an innovative transparent elastic technopolymer that sets them apart from traditional fins. This cutting-edge material offers a light and elastic construction, providing users with an very good elastic return, aligned with the best modern polymer blade fins. The transparency of the blades is not only a design feature, but a functional asset for spearfishermen, allowing the fins to blend seamlessly with the underwater environment. This solution generates the best possible camouflage effect. A matt area on both sides of the blade keeps its underwater transparency, but avoids excessive reflexes in shallow water, and gives a very cool look to the fins. Equipped with sturdy C4 250 foot pockets, Ghost fins are designed for maximum performance and durability.
Performance of the C4 Ghost
The C4 Ghost fins are presented as having powerful thrust and superior energy efficiency, making them the ideal choice for both professional and recreational divers. These fins allow for longer, less tiring dives, offering significant advantages in terms of endurance. The elastic return of the technopolymer blade ensures strong propulsion while maintaining comfort. The transparent design of the blade also enhances the spearo’s ability to approach prey stealthily, providing a distinct advantage in spearfishing.
Research and Testing for the C4 Ghost
The development of C4 Ghost fins with this amazing camouflage solution is the culmination of years of advanced research and exhaustive testing. Extensive molding tests were conducted in the internal production department to perfect every detail of the fins. Before being released to the market, C4 Ghost fins underwent rigorous laboratory testing, including a 7-week continuous trial on C4 robot blade testing machine that subjected the fins to over 1,411,200 cycles of continuous motion. In addition to lab testing, the fins were field-tested for over two years by a team of international athletes, both in the sea and in pools, confirming their durability and exceptional performance.
Production
The C4 Ghost fins with transparent blade are proudly manufactured 100% in Italy by C4. With the addition of a new plastic injection department at the C4 production plant, both the 250 foot pockets and the C4 Ghost blades are now produced in-house. This level of control over the production process ensures that each pair of C4 Ghost fins meets the highest quality standards, making them a reliable and innovative choice for divers worldwide.
Design and Dimensions
The C4 Ghost fins feature a transparent blade that measures 795 x 195 mm, and the total fin length for foot pocket 42/43 size is 910 x 195 mm. The angle between foot and blade is totally 29°, now a standard in C4 fins line. The blades are categorized as “Soft” in terms of stiffness, providing flexibility and smooth energy transfer. The water rails, one piece with the blade, feature a slightly progressive geometry, optimizing hydrodynamic performance and controlling lateral slide. The foot pockets are the C4 250 model, with pre-formed 3° angles for ergonomic comfort.
