The test of the Meandros b32 by the Apnea Passion International Team has led to the award of the Greek speargun with the 2025 Best Choice by Apnea Passion. This applies for the category of spearguns starting from below 200€, as the Meandros b32 in the 85 cm black version without reel. All the qualities presented in our X-Rays article, such as the record reduced offset of the index and shaft, the amazing 32 mm diameter barrel with vertical flat walls for maximum rigidity, the excellent muzzle and 100% steel inverted release mechanism, have finally given great results also in the test in the water. “The Meandros spearguns in general, I tested the b28 and b32, and the b32 95 cm in particular, are in my opinion the best spearguns overall in their price range.”
Power
“I have been really impressed by the power of the Meandros b32 95 cm. At a first glance, the elastic bands are particularly thin, only 14 mm diameter, and you would expect a reduced thrust of the 6.75 mm Meandros shaft. Instead, the power expressed is really outstanding! Probably the general design of the Meandros b32, with its reduced index to shaft offset, generates such a good recoil control, that the power expressed is well beyond any expectation. Such aspect, of course, is also matched with, as said, a reduced recoil and a great control of it. In fact, the double 14mm bands are powerful but not excessively aggressive, so the recoil is reduced. The good mass of the Meandros b32 with the 32mm diameter barrel also improves general balance and recoil control. The double bands are also easy to load. Not a problem for me, as I am quite an animal and can load any speargun, but for a general user, it is surely an additional plus. Wow!”
Release mechanism
“The release mechanism is great and definitely the inverted system increases useful length of the speargun making it work as a more than 100cm version instead of a 95 cm. This adds to the great power and precision of the Meandros b32, making it a very easy to use and effective speargun, definitely deserving the 2025 Best Choice by Apnea Passion award in its price range.”
Buoyancy
“The buoyancy in the water of the Meandros b32 is great. The additional air inside the 32mm barrel and the use fo double O-rings permits to have the maximum buoyancy and a prefect setup with the 6.75 mm shaft. I guess also going up to 7 mm or more the Meandros b32 could still have a great balance in the water.”
Reel
“I like the reel and its design, but if I was to find something to improve I would say that the steel base could be made a little stiffer as there is some slight flexion, and this is the only improvement I would indicate. Finally, the Meandros b32 is a really great speargun that can be used for almost any technique, but definitely both in the Aspetto and the hunting of big groupers in the dens.”
Carlo Forni
“From my perspective, which can be the one of an average to good spearo, so also a classic customer, the Meandros spearguns have in general a plus compared to most competition on the market. They are excellently designed and manufactured in each component, with solutions that make them unique even though simple. The use, in fact, is extremely easy, and even loading, with the standard circular bands having small diameters, even though very powerful, is extremely smooth. The grip, the swing, the power and the precision are amazing.
The Meandros b28 and b32 are the spearguns you want with you at all times for trouble free spearfishing and great performance. The choice between the b28 and b32 depends primarily on the use, being the first lighter and with easier swing, but the second more powerful and well balanced even with a heavy shaft. The Meandros b32 is definitely a winner of the Best Choice by Apnea Passion 2025, considering the amazing starting price of the b32 85 cm black version below 200€!“
