Daniel Gospic has tested the new Seac W22 fins with polymer blade. Normally we think of great spearfishing champions only diving with composite blade fins, but what does our Daniel think of these new very refined fins?

The Seac Motus foot pocket

Seac Motus foot pocket

“The Seac Motus foot pocket is extremely comfortable, it feels like a sock! It feels soft on the foot and does not leave any sign. The two different hardness rubbers work perfectly to give comfort, but at the same time great transmission of the force from the foot to the blade.

Wearing and taking off the Seac Motus foot pocket is extremely easy. Of course, as always, it is better to wet the foot pocket before wearing it. Once on, the foot is well tight in the Motus and does not move.

When coming up from the dive the Seac Motus foot pocket is great. Additionally, the rubber does not make any noise when making fast movements or changing direction, a problem that can happen with other models.

On these polymer blades the long lateral rails are ok, but maybe on a carbon fiber blade they should be shorter. So, for such use, the Seac BM30 foot pocket is a better solution.”

In the water with Daniel Gospic

Transfers on the surface with the Seac W22 fins with polymer blade are extremely easy and non tiring, just slightly less performing than carbon fiber fins. In the first 15/20 meters the Seac W22 fins are great and the feeling is of lightness on the legs and great push. Of course, for deeper dives the polymer blades are not perfect, but can still work with reasonable performance.

The Seac W22 fins are great in shallow dives and spearfishing in the foam. The slight limit is the reactivity, a little lower, obviously, than carbon fiber fins when changing direction during the dive.”

“In general”, says Daniel Gospic, “I have been very positively impressed by the Seac W22 with polymer blade. In fact, in the first 15/20 meters the performance of these new generation fins is very very close to carbon fiber fins. The Seac W22 fins are a great choice for beginners and medium capacity spearos, perfect for all in shallow water spearfishing, where you have great performance avoiding the risk of breaking the blade, a situation very frequent with carbon fiber blades.”
