We have presented the incredible Cetma Shark with the X-Rays article some time ago. The first aluminium barrel speargun by Cetma Composites has a unique solution of having 3 spearguns in one, without even changing the muzzle: single, double and Vela system. It was time for Apnea Passion to test this new product by the Italian Company, so we had it at our International Awards Camp in Stintino, for the selection of the 2025 Best Choice by Apnea Passion winning products per category. The Cetma Shark Vela was the absolute winner in the Roller-Vela-Inverted category, putting together amazing performance and quality, at a very affordable price.
All the Apnea Passion Team has tested the Cetma Vela with absolute appreciation by everyone. Let’s see what the agonist Roberto Poggioli, and our Director, Carlo Forni, have told us.
Roberto Poggioli – Spectacular precision

“I have tried the Cetma Shark 85 at the International Awards Camp selecting the Vela version. The details and design of this new aluminium speargun by Cetma Composites have impressed me immediately.
In the water, the Cetma Shark Vela has a perfect balance. This aspect also helps the precision of the shot. Moreover, the clear line of aim makes everything very natural.
What I also really liked is that the Vela System of the Shark is extremely easy to reload, and this is something that sometimes stops spearos in using such power solution. Cetma Composites has definitely solved the “problem”!

I can surely say that the shot is among the most powerful and precise on the market, which makes the Cetma Shark an amazing choice.
If I were to find something to improve in such a high level product, it would be the swing capacity, somehow limited. Also, and this is something I always point out when analyzing a speargun, is the side release lever. Nicely designed, I would prefer it bigger, as I tend to use big diameter monofilament. With the great power and reach of the shot of the Cetma Shark Vela, and so the possibility to use three passages of line, these would fit a little bit to the limit on the lever.
Carlo Forni – A great idea for an excellent price
The Cetma Shark impresses in all its line, with one single speargun for single, double or Vela bands systems. You simply need to change the bands to move from one system to the other. This is the first speargun to be designed with such a solution, and the idea by Cetma Composites has been so clever!

On the performance side, I have been testing quite some Vela system spearguns in the last years. The Cetma Shark Vela 85 first of all has an extremely easy loading process. This is key considering that not all spearos are professional ones, and want something powerful, precise, but also easy to reload! By the way, also Roberto (Poggioli), who is an agonist a very experienced spearo, has indicated the ease in loading the speargun as a very important plus.
The balance in the water is perfect and this helps precision. Additionally, the Vela system helps such aspect, as the almost zero recoil determines an even greater precision.
Finally, the shot is amazing. You see the shaft coming out of the speargun without almost feeling any movement of the barrel. The speed, but in particularly the reach of the shot is astonishing. I have the defect of sometimes holding the speargun too loose, so the shot is often high. With the Cetma Shark Vela the precision was absolute. Wow!

To complete the review of the Cetma Shark, the analysis of the price is key. Today you can buy the quality of Cetma Composites in an amazing Vela system for 370€, complete of reel, but adding respectively 45€ and 65€ you can add the single couple or double couple of elastic bands. This means really having an amazing speargun, for what concerns the handle, release mechanism, barrel and muzzle, multiplied by 3, for three versions one can use with different setups along the year and in different spearfishing techniques. Amazing!
The partially limited swing compared to other spearguns indicated by Roberto is something expectable. When you design an aluminium barrel speargun with oval section and Vela system, there is no way the swing can be excellent. Still, the balance in the water is so good that you feel no fatigue when holding the Shark. When moving it you might need a little more effort than traditional or slimmer spearguns, but this is a compromise totally acceptable for the amazing advantages in the power and precision given by the Cetma Vela system.
The Shark Vela by Cetma Composites is the absolute winner of the 2025 Best Choice by Apnea Passion in the demultiplied spearguns section, and an excellent product overall.
