After the x-rays article presentation on the new Cetma Black Camu wetsuit Carlo Forni has tested it to have a confirmation of the good qualities of the first traditional spearfishing wetsuit by the Italian Company. The quality has been totally confirmed, but let’s see what our Director has told us.
Wearing the Black Camu
“I have tested the Cetma Black Camu wetsuit in the 5 mm thickness and size M for jacket and pants . Wearing the Cetma Black Camu spearfishing wetsuit is easy and thanks to the good elasticity of the Yamamoto #39 neoprene the process does not require too much strength. At the same time it is nice to feel the wetsuit being extremely strong and resistant, which adds to the possibility to pull it while dressing without the risk of tearing any part.
All the triple connections are reinforce with neoprene “buttons” so the resistance is guaranteed in time. The lower part of the jacket with double lined neoprene avoids the frequent cuts generated by the pulling or the nails.”
The fit
The fit of the Cetma Black Camu wetsuit is probably its best quality. Once worn, the wetsuit by the Italian company adheres to the body perfectly. The feeling is of a very strong structure, not excellently soft or elastic, but just right. There are no areas of discomfort or excessive pressure on the body or skin. Around the face, and especially the area of the chin, the hood fits perfectly and does not slide away on the neck. The area behind the knees with the double stitching shifted from the bending line of the legs avoids any rubbing which would generate abrasions on the skin. You can feel the additional stiffness of the large Supratex protections on the knees, but this generates no problem.
Elasticity of the Yamamoto #39
We know that the top quality Yamamoto neoprene in the #45, but the #39 follows closely. The elasticity and softness are very good, but do not expect extreme values as for the #45. Definitely the Yamamoto #39 will ensure very good resistance to compression, durability and great thermal insulation. So very good elasticity and resistance are a perfect balance for the Cetma Black Camu wetsuit to adhere perfectly to the body, with no water sacks, great thermal insulation, and no loss of elasticity in time. You will not feel the extreme softness of a smooth open cell neoprene or of the Yamamoto °45, but believe me the feeling wearing the Cetma Black Camu is great.
No area of the wetsuit, no stitching, nor any border creates discomfort and you will be able to wear this new wetsuit by Cetma Composites for long spearfishing session with extreme confort and thermal protection. After 4 hours of spearfishing with 24°C I felt perfectly warm and had no pain or discomfort in any area in contact with the wetsuit.
Protections
I love the Supratex protections on the knees. Even though at the end of our spearfishing session these pads will stay humid longer than all the rest of the wetsuit, the feeling and protection is great when resting on the rocks and having to move with the knees rubbing on them. The sternal protection is also very well designed and of good dimensions and thickness. Large and tough, also with a Supratex base and an additional layer of neoprene, the sternal protection is perfect even with the longest and most powerful spearguns to load. The puff gum external layer is perfect as anti slip system.
Conclusions
Overall Cetma Composites with the Black Camu spearfishing wetsuit has done once more a great job. This, despite it is not their core business; but the Cetma quality is always there. The new wetsuit combines a perfect balance of comfort, thermal protection, great fit and fantastic resistance. The Cetma Black Camu is not the softest on the market but the great cut and the high quality neoprene, create an extremely comfortable wetsuit of top quality.
