The spearfishing knife with its strong cutting blade is a key part of our equipment, both for finishing the fish and for safety. Let’s look at some of the most interesting spearfishing knives on the market.
A wide range by Cressi
Cressi in its range has some of the most famous spearfishing knives, but has also recently launched the new Cressi Lizard, definitely a very functional solution. Let’s see them all.
Grip Knife by Cressi
The Grip Knife by Cressi is the smallest of the lot, with a total length of 15.8 cm, a length of the blade of 7.1 cm and a total length in the folder of 17.5 cm, This small knife can be positioned on the weight belt or on the arm, using in this case the two adjustable rubber bands included. The sheath is in rigid glass loaded Nylon and has a special clip to lock the knife in position.
Cressi Killer
Probably the most famous spearfishing knife by the Italian Company, the Cressi Killer spearfishing knife is a simple medium length blade solution (8.3 cm long). The total length of the knife is 18 cm, while the total length in the sheath is 18.9 cm. The Cressi Killer is famous for the quality of the steel of its blade, permitting this knife to last for years. Dented on one side and with a smooth cutting blade on the other, the Cressi Killer has a plastic folder to which it is locked with a thick and resistant (good!) O-Ring. The folder can be then positioned on the calf with two traditional adjustable rubber bands. Made of a single steel element and matched with a plastic handle, the Cressi Killer can be dismounted unscrewing the rear knob, for best cleaning.
Predator knife
Moving up with the length we find in the Cressi range the Predator. The concept is similar to the Killer knife, with a single steel element matched to a Nylon handle. The Predator is dismountable unscrewing the knob on the rear of the blade. The knob has a passing hole to connect a line and avoid for any reason to lose the knife. The length of the blade is 8.5 cm, the total length of the knife is 18.5 cm and the knife in the sheath measures 19.3 cm. The material of the blade and rear knob is Tempered aisi 420 steel with black protective coating.
Cressi Lizard Knife
It is the new offer by Cressi, the Lizard Spearfishing knife, has already been presented in our X-Rays. Definitely an evolution thanks to the shaft straightening and unblocking system. It is available with black, red and green handle.
The new C4 Ronin knife
Even though C4 Carbon has a different models of spearfishing knives, among which the already presented C4 Naifu and Naifu S, we will focus on the new C4 Ronin. The latter is a compact solution, with a 9 cm long blade, a total length of 18 cm and the length inside the sheath equal to 18.5 cm. The latter is in hard glass loaded Nylon, and blocks the knife with a special deforming clip.
The knife has some inserts on the side of the handle to give some anatomy. The rear of the handle has a very special feature, a whistle for safety. The C4 Ronin can be positioned on the weight belt or on the arm, but in this case there is no band included. The colours available are red, white and black.
Mares knives offer
The offer by Mares sees a wide number of spearfishing knives. Still, we have selected three, the Argo, the Iago, and the most recent Ascent. Let’s take a quick look at them.
Argo knife
The Mares Argo knife, available both with Steel and Titanium (zero rust) blade, is a small solution with a 7.3 cm long blade, total length including the handle of 17.2 cm and length in the sheath equal to 19.3 cm.The sheath is in hard glass loaded Nylon and the connection to block the Argo knife is obtained with a pressable clip.
The Mares Argo knife can be positioned on the weight belt, the calf or the arm, and is sold with two elastic straps with Velcro.
Iago knife
The Mares Iago knife is particularly interesting as it has a good anatomical Nylon handle in hard glass loaded Nylon and with an orange anti slip rubber insert for the thumb. This is very comfortable and includes a hole at its end to connect a line which can avoid losing the knife.
The blade has dented profiles on both sides, which have the greatest cutting performance. It is made of 4 mm thick 420A steel. The length of the blade is 9.7 cm, the total length of the knife is 22.4 cm aand the length including the sheath is 25 cm. The sheath is in hard glass loaded Nylon and insured the locking of the knife with a lever.
Another key element of the Mares Iago knife is the presence in the blade of a hole for unblocking and straightening the shaft.
The Mares Iago knife can be positioned on the weight belt, or on the calf and arm thanks to two adjustable rubber bands.
Ascent knife
The last born in Mares is the Ascent knife. It is made of martensitic stainless steel, known for its exceptional strength, corrosion resistance, and durability.
The extremely sharp blade is coupled with a handle which has luminous lateral dented elements in yellow which are easy to identify. An elongated hole in the handle serves as tool for freeing shafts stuck in rocks and straightening the shaft in case they are bent after a shot against a hard target.
The innovative sheath design allows for quick one-handed removal, as a special deformation of a lever on the sheath locks the knife and unlocks it just by pulling.
The handle has a passage for the line at its end to avoid losing the knife.
Pathos knives
The Greek company offers two dimensions knives, the Pathos Lama and the Pathos Sting.
Pathos Lama
The Pathos Lama is the biggest of the two knives by Pathos. Of a very traditional design, it is a classic and very easy to use knife. The blade has a smooth cutting edge on one side and a dented one on the other for stronger cutting and scales removal from the fish. The tip of the blade is narrow to better penetrate objects. The blade is 11 cm long, the total length of the knife is 21.5 cm and the length in the sheath is 22.5 cm.
The connection between the Pathos Lama and the sheath is insured by a good dimensions O-Ring. The blade of the Pathos Lama is forged from a single piece marine grade stainless steel. The glass loaded Nylon grip is anatomic. The nylon sheath can be placed on the leg with the standard adjustable rubber straps or on the diver’s weight belt.
Sting knife
The Pathos Sting spearfishing knife is a more compact offer by the Greek company.
Designed specifically for spearfishing, the Pathos Sting is renowned for its ease of handling and efficient design. Forged from marine-grade stainless steel, its sharp, penetration-optimized shape ensures precise targeting. The Sting features an anatomical grip and a versatile blade with a sharp edge for slicing and a semi-jagged edge for tougher cuts.
Safety is paramount, so the Pathos Sting includes a technopolymer sheath that can be attached to either a diver’s calf or weight belt. Secure twin snap clips keep the Sting safely in place. The Pathos Sting is compact with a 9 cm blade, total length of 18.6 cm and length in the sheath of 19 cm.
