Light
The power of the LED light of the Sea Hunter Modula XS torch is 1000 lumen, a good value, even though there are more powerful options on the market. The beam has an angle of 10°, which is definitely well concentrated to perfectly light the cracks in the rocks. The light produced is 5000K, meaning quite similar, maybe slightly colder, than the natural daylight. This should help to see at best the objects and fish on the sea floor.
Aeronautical aluminium body
The body of the Sea Hunter Modula XS torch is in high quality aeronautical aluminium. This makes the torch extremely resistant to shocks, even though heavier than a glass loaded Nylon body torch. The total weight we measured including the battery and lace is 245 grams. The dimensions of the torch are 13.5 cm length, 3 cm the diameter of the central body, and 4 cm the diameter of the head where the led and reflector are. Holding the torch is very confortable if one has medium to large hands.
Switch
The switch of the Sea Hunter Modula XS torch is a magnetic system. Sliding the switch permits to regulate the intensity of the beam. Since the switch is 3 mm thick, it can be felt quite well even with thick gloves, but we will verify this in a test at sea. It can be easily substituted with the spare one included in the case simply by unscrewing eith the hands the aluminium crown at the base of the head.
Recharge and battery
The Sea Hunter Modula XS torch comes with a separate battery charger. The rechargeable battery we found is a 6000mAh 3.7V model, so even higher than the 5500 mAh indicated on Sea Hunter website. The battery duration is indicated by Sea Hunter equal to up to 3.5 hours at maximum power.
Water resistant
The maximum depth for water resistance of the Sea Hunter Modula XS torch is 100m. This is obtained both by the resistant aeronautical aluminium body, and by the very useful double O-Rings.
Price
The price of the Sea Hunter Modula XS torch is now discounted to 82€ from 115€, so in line with most diving torches designed with an aluminium body. This includes a long non elastic lace, a soft texture case, a spare switch and two pairs of spare O-Rings.
