Introduction
Launched on the market a couple of years ago, the Salvimar ST Atlantis & ST Blade represent a real innovation in the way they are designed with all functionalities included (except line quick cutter).
The handle
Of compact dimensions (80 mm long x 36 mm max-width x 18 mm thick), the handle has an anatomical shape and is made of two parts of 30% glass loaded Nylon covering the central stell part of the blade. The two arts are easily dismountable for deep cleaning thanks to two Allen head screws. Colors available for the handle are red, military green, blue and black.
The interesting solution, maybe a little weak in time, is the rubber band that permits easily the spearo to hold the knife with all fingers free; a real help when having to use both hands.
On the Salvimar ST Atlantis the rear of the handle is complete with the steel part coming out and the hole for the shaft straightening and shaft unblocking system. On the Salvimar ST Blade the rear of the handle has only the shaft unblocking system, while the shaft straightening system is in the frontal part of the handle, on the side of the blade.
The blade
Made of tempered 420 B stainless steel of 75 Rockwell hardness, the blades of the Salvimar ST Atlantis and ST Blade knives have a narrow tip. One side of the blade of the Salvimar ST Atlantis had a standard sharp profile, while the other had a double-toothed edge. Differently, the opposite edge from the standard sharp profile on the Salvimar ST Blade has a constant toothed edge. On the side of the toothed blade, the tip of both knives is not sharp to distinguish it from a weapon. This is true for all Salvimar knives.
The center of the blade of the Salvimar ST Blade has a circular hole for straightening shafts. The hole has a minimum diameter of 8 mm, so adequate for all dimensions shafts.
The sheath
The sheaths of the Salvimar ST Atlantis and ST Blade are made of 30% glass loaded Nylon, the material used by Salvimar on almost all plastic elements. The colors available are black, midnight blu, red and miltary green.
A very important and particular aspect of the design of the sheaths of the Salvimar ST Atlantis and ST Blade is the triangular shape of the profile where the blade is inserted. This definitely helps the insertion even not looking at the knife and sheath.
The sheaths of the Salvimar ST Atlantis and ST Blade are made with two passages for the belt on the rear. The width of the two passages is such that it perfectly fits on standard weights for the belt, as this is the position where the knife should be according to Salvimar. The Salvimar ST Atlantis and ST Blade have the same total length of 190 mm, which permits to wear the knives also on the arm and the calf with elastic Velcro bands that are sold separately.
