Aluminium and Fiber pole spears
Hero hand spear in aluminium
Mares offers an aluminium pole spear called Hero. It is made of a 16 mm diameter black anodized aluminium tube with 2 mm thick wall. The structure is in two 80 cm long elements to create a 160 cm structure plus the length of the tip. This is a 6 prongs paralyzer in stainless steel with an aluminium base (total wegiht 84 grams).
The rear of the pole spear is complete with a replaceable sling. Additionally, the included special connector allows for easy integration with Mares Pure Passion standard M6 prongs, making it a versatile tool. The total weight of the Hero hand spear is 470 grams, so very easy and light to use in the water.
Fiber hand spear
The Mares Fiber hand spear is the same length as the Hero, but the glass fiber material substitutes the aluminium. The diameter is reduced from 16 mm to 14 mm, which means a better water penetration, even though the tip with a the paralyzer or the pronger is definitely the main limit to water penetration. The paralyzer is 100% stainless steel, including the base (total weight 123 grams). The Fiber hand spear by Mares grows in weight up to 640 grams including the paralyzer, giving it more inertia a so more power for a longer a dn more penetrating shot.
