The new Cressi Hunt spearfishing torch is available now on the market. We have awarded the Cressi Lumia with the Best Choice 2023, thanks to the anatomical shape, the great switch and the amazing narrow light beam. The Italian Company now launches the Cressi Hunt, the spearfishing torch which has many of the strengths of the the Lumia and some additional pluses. Even though not designed and built in Cressi like the Lumia, the Hunt has been optimized in the safety feature and functions at the headquarters of Cressi Elettronica, where the best diving watches and computers made by the Italian company are designed and manufactured.
Anathomical design
The Cressi Hunt has an anatomical design which is key to hold it properly during the spearfishing action, and also feel the right position without having to look at it. An very important upgrade required by Cressi has been to have a rough surface on the two sides of the case, obtaining and anti slip effect absent on some competition.
Switch
The switch of the Cressi Hunt is a very good sliding solution (better than the much diffused button). This solution helps you to control at best the on and off setting and also is perfectly feelable with the thumb. This is an additional help in feeling the position of the torch without looking. Cressi Elettronica, also on this component, has required a rough dotted surface for better grip.
LED and power
The LED of the Cressi Hunt is a Luminus SST40 model for a brightness of 1600 lumens and a beam reaching over 290 meters. The central beam has narrow angle of 11°, wider than the Lumia, but still positively low to enter well in the crack and between the rocks. This is a value indicated by the producer, and the real test will be the our Test of the Champion in the water.
Total seal
Another key aspect of the Cressi Hunt is the total seal of the case. This permits to avoid any water or sand entry in the torch, for greater reliability. Also, the Hunt is made with a resistant structure made of premium materials, robust and impact-resistant up to 1.5 meters, waterproof up to 100 meters (IPX8).
Rechargeable
A good upgrade of the Cressi Hunt compared to the Lumia is definitely the rechargeable solution. The system utilizes a magnetic connection which needs no opening of the torch at any time. The onluy issue is the possibility to lose the magnetic line with USB connection, as this would make it impossible to recharge the torch. So, take care! The integrated 5000 mAh battery takes 4 hours for a full charge which gives you (producer data) 2 hours of battery life. Some might still prefer the traditional battery system as the one of the Lumia, which lasts much longer and can be immediately reset by simply changing the batteries. Still, the rechargeable solution is much more environmentally friendly and economical with time.
Safety light
By keeping the switch pressed a rear safety flashing light is activated. Cressi Elettronica has managed to separate the functioning of the main light and the safety one, making it possible to have both on, or just one of the two.
