Kevin Daly is the 2026 British Spearfishing Champion after winning the final round at Talland Bay, Cornwall, on 26 September. The LIC RS athlete secured the overall title ahead of Dave Stephens (Team Apnea Passion Magazine) and Gary Roche, following three rounds at Ringstead, Bognor and Talland Bay.

Kevin Daly wins at Talland Bay

Like the two previous rounds, the deciding competition was a six-hour event starting from the shore. A large shoal of tuna and dolphins was spotted feeding in the competition area, raising concerns that catches could be lower than usual.

The weigh-in confirmed modest fish numbers, although several competitors returned with notable catches. Species landed included bass, mullet, pollack, red mullet, bull huss, dogfish, flounder, triggerfish, pouting and plaice.

Daly won with seven fish and 17,680 points, with a catch including pollack, bass, dogfish and flounder. Gary Roche finished second with nine fish, mainly flounder and pollack, scoring 13,600 points. Grant Thorne completed the podium with four fish and 11,320 points, including a pollack weighing more than 8 lb (3.6 kg).
