Y-40, Luciano Morelli and Michele Tomasi, and the new C4 SPORTECH freediving fins, what else could we hope for a great test? The Silver and Bronze DYN champion and the former CWT in the lake recordman have tested deeply, in every sense, the new C4 SPORTECH freediving fins. They have tested both the glass fiber and carbon fiber blades, in the Soft version, and with the silicone foot pockets. Below their official TRUE and INDEPENDENT review!
Luciano Morelli

SPORTECH foot pockets
The size 41-43 SPORTECH foot pocket fits me perfectly. The left and right design generates unbeatable comfort and wraps the foot perfectly. Even the fingers are well blocked in position, but without any discomfort. The arch of the foot is perfectly reproduced by the sole of the foot pocket and gives additional comfort and stability. The rear band (the foot pockets are open heel) is soft thanks to the silicone solution and not too tall, so it adapts perfectly but gently to the heel. Still, for the perfect fit, I do suggest using a pair of toe socks (now available in the C4 line).
C4 SPORTECH FBG

After the success of the C4 FBG Umberto Pelizzari glass fiber fins, that as Apnea Passion we have unanimously prized with the 2025 Best Choice by Apnea Passion Award, once again the glass fiber blades impress! The SPORTECH fins with glass fiber blades, more precisely named C4 SPORTECH FBG, are powerful. Most of all though, it is the unbeatable comfort and smoothness of the kick that impresses. This makes freediving real fun even in very long sessions, not having to sacrifice performance at any time. The ease of use of the C4 FBG SPORTECH fins is an additional plus, also compared to the C4 SPORTECH carbon.
C4 SPORTECH carbon

The C4 SPORTECH carbon fins, thanks to the mechanical characteristics of the carbon fiber, are more reactive than fiberglass and generate more thrust. At the same time they are slightly more nervous and lose something in the comfort and ease of use.
Michele Tomasi

SPORTECH foot pockets
The SPORTECH foot pocket in silicone is soft and very comfortable. The wrapping of the foot is great. Unfortunately, being Apnea Passion testing the fins even before the launch (before Christmas) and in World Première, I could not try my exact size and so the arch under the foot felt a little misaligned. Overall though, the silicone is very soft and amazingly comfortable and permits to use the C4 SPORTECH fins for long sessions.
C4 SPORTECH FBG

The C4 SPORTECH FBG in glass fiber are great fun to use. When you put them on they are extremely natural to use, nice and soft, with zero fatigue on the legs. For a daily use and for fun they are excellent. The thrust in very good, but most of all the comfort is unbeatable.
C4 SPORTECH carbon

When moving from the C4 SPORTECH FBG to the C4 SPORTECH carbon you feel the difference. The carbon version feels definitely harder at equal stiffness, but they are also definitely more performing. When I moved back to the FBG in a dive at maximum depth (-42m) at the Y-40, I could feel the additional performance. In fact, when diving with the FBG initially I felt very good power, but moving to the carbon and then back to the FBG, I could really feel that the carbon are definitely more performing.
