Sorry to be so net, but the Semana Master in Palma de Mallorca is definitely the best spearfishing competition in terms of organization, atmosphere and level of the participants. Friendship, sport, excellent location, professional organization in every detail makes the Semana Master the point of reference for what concerns international spearfishing competitions. Every spearfisherman and spearfisherwoman should participate to this extraordinary event and all organizers should take a look and inspiration from this highly professional competition. On top, the charity done with the catches given to the SOS Mamas association.

The FBDAS (Federación Balear de Actividades subacuáticas), with the partnership of FEDAS and CMAS, have been organizing 21 editions of the Open Ciutat de Palma and 20 editions of the Master Ciutat de Palma. Along the way FBDAS has included the CMAS World Cup for nations, this year reaching its 6° edition and the Brands Cup, this year at its 5° edition. With the positive work by CMAS in including women in the spearfishing competitions, this year the CMAS Women’s Cup Ciutat de Palma will also be held will take place for the 3° time.

Semana Master ciutat de Palma 2020 – Brands Cup podium

With COVID pandemic stopping many events, the last Semana Master Ciutat de Palma has stopped for two years (2021 and 2022). This year though it is ready to start again in all its special attractiveness and charisma. A special Tribute of this edition will be made to Andrés Sureda Milán, the former FEDAS national coach, and a key element in the organization of the Semana Master.

The last edition of this fantastic event has been held in 2020, with a great result by Giacomo De Mola (Pathos) becoming the new “maestro”, winning the Master trophy. In the Brands Cup Beuchat wonder team with Oscar Cervantes, Daniel Gospic and the lead of no less than Pedro Carbonell, has won. The CMAS Women’s Cup has seen the triumph of the World Champion Malen Sart (Spetton). In the CMAS World Cup an amazing France has won, and we will soon publish an article on their possible comeback to the CMAS World Championship this year!

XX Master

The XX Master Ciutat de Palma will take place on the 27th of January 2023. The competition will be individual and will last 5 hours. The Master competition is exclusive for the athletes invited by the organization, which makes this trophy of extremely high level. The invited athletes must have obtained one of the following results:

  1. Won a World Championship
  2. Have classified among the top 10 in the last World Championship
  3. Have won an edition of the Master Ciutat de Palma
  4. One Italian athlete is included as Italy has organized the 2020 World Championship
  5. One Tunisian athlete is included as Tunisia has organized the 2021 Euro-African Championship
  6. One athlete per commercial brand that participates as team in the CMAS World Cup for Brands

III CMAS Women’s Cup

On the same day of the Master also the III CMAS Women’s Cup will take place. This competition is individual, will last 5 hours. All women athletes with need a valid licence from the Federation and a Spearfishing licence.

VI CMAS World Cup (National Teams)

The VI CMAS World Cup for National Teams will be held on the 28th of January and will last 6 hours. The national teams that have agreed their participation with the organization will be able to compete in this event. The competition will be held in teams of maximum 3 athletes, but could also consist of only two athletes plus a boatman. Only two of the three athletes will be able to be in the water at once.

V Brands World Cup

The V° Brands World Cup will take place on the 28th of January and will last 6 hours. Every brand can participate with only one team. The team will be made of maximum 3 athletes, but can be made of 2 athletes and a boatman. As for the National teams World Cup only two athletes at once can be in the water.

XXI Open Ciutat de Palma (X memorial Sebastiá Carbonell)

The XXI Open Ciutat de Palma ( X memorial Sebastiá Carbonell) will be a teams competition. It will be held on the 28th of January and will last 6 hours. There will be maximum 3 athletes per team, but they can be 2 plus a boatman. Maximum 2 athletes at once will be able to be in the water during the competition.
