Due to COVID-19 pandemy, World Spearfishing Championship 2020 planned to be held in Italy, Arbatax from 17th to 21rst of September, will be postponed to 2021, date to be defined. After request from Italian Federation of Sport Fishing Underwater Activities and Finned Swimming (FIPSAS) to shift the World Spearfishing Championship to next year, CMAS has approved this possibility.
So, after the shift of all the Italian agonistic spearfishing Season 2020 to 2021, also the World Spearfishing Championship will be postponed to next year. Evidently, such a wide and international event could not be thought to be held this year, even considering best possible development of the pandemy.
New dates of the main Italian spearfishing competitions are already confirmed:
– Italian Absolute Male and Female Spearfishing Championship – Torre San Giovanni (LE) 17/20 June 2021;
– Italian Qualification Spearfishing Championship – Cinisi / Terrasini (PA) 23/26 September 2021;
– Italian Spearfishing Championship for Brands – Santa Marinella / Ladispoli (RM) 2 October 2021;
– Italian Absolute Spearfishing Championship for Couples- Forio d’Ischia (NA) 9 October 2021.
